This week was AWESOME!!!!!!!
Hi Mom!!!
This week was AWESOME!!!!!!! Francisco and Teresa got baptized!!! They are so sweet! And then they took us out to Ihop after and i thought of Jeff hahaha they're so funny cause both of them dont speak ANY english so i had to order for them. So, they would tell me what they wanted in spanish and then i'd tell the waiter in english and it was so funny, then later someone said..."you dont look like someone who would know spanish" and i said "i know im really white on the outside, but im really brown on the inside" Oh it was so funny. But, Elder Albertson got permission to come to the baptism and it was SOO funny because remember when we had the baptism in Hurst for Laura and Mariel and i filled the font and it was FREEZING cold water? Well, guess what. The water was cold again this time!! But!!! i did NOT fill the font this time...so not my fault!!!! As soon as Teresa got in the water she loudly said "ITS COLD" and then Elder Albertson and i looked at each other at the same time and just put our heads down and laughed. Elder Albertson was the elder that had to dive into the font and unplug it for the baptism in Hurst. So, he knew exactly how she felt hahah it was so funny! But, aside from that the baptism was great!
Guess what????? MIGUEL CAME BACK!!!!!!!!! my heart was SO happy!!! Ok, so here's the story of miguel. When i was here in Denton 6 months ago, he got baptized right before i got here, the weekend before. He's 19 and he is the sweetest boy ever!!! When i was here 6 months ago, his sister Nancy fed us all the time and we went over and taught him all the new member lessons and stuff, so we got really close to Miguel. Then, i came back and i was expecting to see Miguel here and long story short, he moved out with his brother and went off the deep end completely. Moved out of Nancy's and theres a whole long dramatic story but long story short is the went way inactive cause of the example of his brother. On Tuesday, i get a txt from Nancy and she said "GUESS WHAT!" and i said "WHAT?!" and she said...."you're gonna wanna come over tonight....." and i asked "and why is that?" and she says "MIGUEL IS BACK!!" and i called her and we went over right away!! And!!!! MIGUEL CAME BACk!!! I was SO happy to see him!!!!! We're gonna work really hard with him and get him coming back to church! I told him i was speaking on sunday and he promised me he's come to hear me speak. He's embarrassed to come back to church because of the way things were when he left, but he promised me he's come to hear me talk. So, he did!!! He came just for sacrament but he came! We went over later that night and visited with him and he is so awesome! his testimony def got shaken but i promised him that as long as i am here, i am going to work with him. And that made him really happy and he told me that he wouldnt have wanted any other missionary here to help him.
I really am seeing the reasons why the Lord put me back here in Denton. 1, is for Miguel. 2, is for Claudia!! And she came to church too! She is AMAZING!!!! Anyways, she is the one who picked her own baptism date and is getting baptized on the 30th! When she came to church yesterday our ward mission leader came up and introduced himself and asked how everything was going and she said "i am here because of her. She has helped me through everything" and she grabbed onto me and gave me a hug. I know i am back for her as well. Before i got here she told Hna Sanchez and Facer she wanted nothing to do with them and then i got here and she took us back and we taught her again and now she's getting baptized!!! The Lord really does work through certain people and i know she needed me to be here to help here through this. Ok, so funny story for the week. So, Texas decided to have one of its HUGE storms and it just so happened to be the night where we left the car at our apartment and walked about 2 1/2 miles from our house. Well, we talked to the first person and she told us we were crazy to be out because a huge storm was on its way. We told her that the gospel is just that important and then she shut her door. Dang white people...so rude. Sure enough, about 10 minutes later it just starts to DOWN POUR!!! i mean like RAIN RAIN RAIN soo hard!!! one of the hardest its rained here in Texas in my opinion. We then kept walking and then the first hispanic who opened the door let us right in. unlike that dang white lady. Anyways! So, they told us that we were on tornado watch. So, we left and then decided that it was a BAD IDEA to walk home. so, we called basically every member and no one answered. Finally!! the old relief society pres answered and she came and got it. We told her we got caught in the storm but then when she picked us up she said she didnt think we'd been out in the storm for very long but that it looked like we jumped into a pool and then got out. literally every part of us was soaking wet!!! It was so fun!! Until we realized we were in the middle of a tonado watch and the sirens went off. Thats were the fun ended and the nervousness kicked in. We went to claudias after we went home and changed and when i took my boots off, water just poured out of them haha Claudia made us hot chocolate and we all sat on her bed with pillows and blankets and shared a scripture.
Last tuesday night we had 3 dinners. I was so full after the first and then someone gave us a second and then a third! and, you cant turn hispanics down for food because a lot of times, they dont have much food and if they are offering it to you...you have to eat it. its like their way of showing appreciation.....so, we ate a ton that night! I think thats pretty much it for this week.
I love you!! I hope you have a great day and i am so happy for your and give my Aunt Michele a big hug from her little hermana powell :)
Love ya,
Hermana Powell
