Hi Mamma!!
Last night we went over to Alonzo's and he is kinda going off the deep end. His "guts are falling out". ALmost literally haha his intestines burst a few months ago and he almost died and now he thinks his stitches are coming loose. I told him to get to the hospital ASAP but he wont. He says he needs to keep working cause he's gotta help support his Madre, which by the way is the FUNNIEST old lady i've ever met. She told us to call her Abuela cause she loves us like her own grandchildren. Abuela means grandma is spanish. So, now i got myself a spanish grandma! I'm not so sure she'd take you in tho hahaha she hates when people speak inglish to her sooooo that might be a problem haha but you still got grammie and barbra norman. but man, she is just a hoot!
Nothing cool really happened this week, but we did ride the bus. that i am not a fan of. Its so dirty and full of germs. And, my people arent even on there, its mainly all blacks. So, its not the most productive thing to do with our time, but it does save on our miles. We went all the way up to Hurst again this Friday. We had our "mission leadership council" for all the Zone leaders and the Sister Trainers. So of course that was fun. We had trainings by President Sagers and he is just SO FULL of knowledge!! I always learn a TON from him so i am still so excited to continue to get to learn from him after the mission!
OOOHHHH i do have a story for you!!! Ok, the Lord answers prayers FOR SURE. I've always had a testimony of that, but this week it grew even bigger! Sooooo, we were on our bikes on Thursday and we went over the the west part of Belton, which we'd never been before cause we'd heard that there went a ton of hispanics, but we had a few potentials so we were gonna go try it out. We had close to NO mile left, so that meant we took the bikes or the bus. Well, we opted for the bikes since the bus doesnt run at night here (super inconvient). we got to the end of the rode by our apartments and Hna Ram said "Hna, i think this is a long way for us to go on our bikes" I told her, "nah Hna. It'll be ok. Im sure its not too far" Well.....7 miles later i told her i took that statement back and that she was right. Mom, i was SOOOOO exhausted, I have never ridden 7 miles in my entire life!! Plus, i'd run a mile that morning on the tredmil so i was already tired before the bike adventure. Well, we get to where i thought we were going (which notice the key word of thought, because we didnt even make it there) and the side walk ran out. It was starting to get dark and the road we were next to was 65 miles an hour, and i thought that was a way bad idea for us to bike on that road without a side walk. So, we turned around and rode back. We got to the Belton Lake and decided to take a picture. So, we rode our bikes onto the bridge of the Lake, which is not something i would ever do again.....way bad idea. Not safe by anymeans. Well, at least we got the picture. So, we start heading back home. We still had some time left so we decided to tract before we went home, cause no way am i gonna let us go home early, no matter how tired we were. Man, we looked like a hot mess! Our hair was awful, we were super sweaty and gross and i just didnt see why anyone would want to talk to us, unless it was our of pity. Well, we get to this area and it was PURE WHITE PEOPLE!! 100% for sure! Oh man, i was so frustrated. I tried the whole bike ride not to complain to Hna Ram since it was my idea to head out that way, but when we got to that area....oh i just lost it. I was so mad. I didnt want to talk to a single white person, those arent our people. Now, maybe there was some prepared person in that area that needed to hear us and we'd reffer the english elders back to them, but i was bitter, and it was not going to benifet us at all!! So, we knock on this one ladies house. I say a prayer that she'll open and at least give us water cause we were sooooooo thirsty!!! She opened! Yes! And......it got better!!!!!!! She did not let us in, or want to even here our message, so how could that be better right? Well, we ask her for water and she says "i dont have any water, but i do have diet coke!" and i thought to myself "YES!!!!! i deserve a diet coke, even if its not caffiene free, i dang deserve it after this night" So i tell her i would love one, and i said a silent prayer in hopes that it would be caffeine free. AND YOU KNOW WHAT!!!!!!!! IT WAS!!!!!!!!! Oh, major answer to my prayer!! I kid you not, when she brought back that little golden can of soda, i almost had tears in my eyes i was so happy. So, true story...the Lord answers your prayers, even if their totally rediculous and not majorly important!
Somewhere that i havent had since i've left CA. Well, i love you!! Hope all is going well back at home!!
Love, Hna. Powell
