Hola mama!
Your week sounded crazzzyyy!! So funny story! There is a member in the enlgish ward and she is ADORABLE! Her name is Sister Purcell. She is just the cutest thing ever, and she had us over for dinner and she told us that her husband called the mission office and YELLED at them and said "i can not belive you have sister missionaries in those apartments. If that was my sister, i would make her come home from her mission!" Then apparently the mission office asked him "are they living in an area where theres drugs?" and his response "i dont know, i dont hang out there! They are not in the ABSOLUTE worst of belton, but they are very, very far from the best!" hahahahaha i thought that was sooooooo funny when she told us that!! One, because her husband is a little more on the cold shoulder side, so when she said that he called because he cared for our safety, both Hna. Ram and i were SHOCKED. and two, thats just super funny that he called the mission office and totally chewed them out about it. But, we're in super nice apartments now so im just fine with that :) grant it, it took us having a stocker to get out of there, but bottom line is we're out! haha.
On Friday, we had our zone conference. It was both mine and Presidents last one, so we bore our testimonies but he also asked me to give a training. So, i did. I trained on how my faith has increased on my mission. And then, bore my departing testimony. Like i just said in my earlier email, he came up to me after and asked if he and sister sagers could come to my talk in sacrament meeting when i report my mission. I told him i'd try to change it, so i am SO excited when i have my final interview with him and i tell him that i changed it! You are going to love them!! President has a dry sense of humor, but he is absolutely hilarious!!! And sister Sagers is just the sweetest thing ever!!
So, our new apartment is by a train track and let me tell you, that SUCKS! not because we hear the trains at night or anything, that doesnt bother me, but the problem i have found out is that the train horns and the tornado sirens sound similar! So, this past month we've had like 5 tornado warnings and stuff and so on friday night, we were laying in bed and it was about 11pm. All of a sudden the "train horn" blows. Well, i tell ya...this was not like any train horn i'd ever heard!! So, i woke Hna. Ram up and told her we needed to head for safety. That the tornado sirens went off and we were doomed. Side note, earlier in the transfer i told her that i remain completely calm in stressful situations but if theres a tornado warning, game over. Ima be a basket case. So, i did give her warning for that. Sure enough, i was a basket case. I am walkin around and telling her to call the elders and such and she is just laughing. I tell her this is not funny and we needed to take this seriously. She is busting up at that point and she says "hermana!! it was a train!!" and then!!!!! It went off again!! I really got upset and told her we needed to run for shelter (we live on the 3rd floor which is NOT ideal by any means when it comes to a possible tornado!) She then realized that i wasnt kidding when i said i'd freak about a tornado warning. She convinced me to get back into bed. The dumb horn went off again and it was getting quieter, she told me that an emergency siren would not get quieter, if anything it would get louder. I got into bed thinking that that made some what of sense, but i was still way too afraid to fall asleep. Thinking, we'd DIE!!! So, eventually we did fall asleep and woke up alive the next morning.
We then went to Alonzo's the next day and told them that if there was EVER a situation where the tornado sirens DID go off, they were to CALL US RIGHT AWAY!! they all promised me that if anything was to or were to happen, they would have called us. So, good news....there was no tornado in Belton, Texas and we are safe. However, that is one thing i will NOT miss about Texas, is the dang tornados. I will HAPPILY take an earthquake over a tornado any day!! President said that some parents are calling the mission office and even sister sagers and him asking if their kids we're alright and such. He says that is SO annoying because he says that if anything was to ever happen to anyones child, he would inform them right away, so heads up, dont ever call hahaa...not that YOU would :)
Thats pretty much all that happened this week. It was a slow week but it was good. Any day as a missionary is a good day! Hna Ram just leaned over and said "Hermana, do you have any friends at BYU-Hawaii?" and i said "not that i know of" and she said "oh good, cause your picture was on the big screen at the BYU-Hawaii devotional!" hahaha she said her mom gave the devotional this past week (she's a teacher there) and that her mom put the picture of us on our bikes up there. Oh wonderful, not even a good picture of me!! haha well, i love you mom!! Have a great week!!! Thanks for moving my talk and sending the pro-active!! Tell all the family that i say hi and i love them!!
Oh, attached is a picture of this blue bell ice-cream. it is FAMOUS in Texas. and finally, i caved and ate some. Man, i wish i did that a year ago cause it is GOOD STUFF!!!
