If only you knew how my day was going!

Hello Mother Dearest -
How are you doing? Good and wonderful and splendid i hope! Life over here in Denton is good. We had 3 people at church today. The people in here in Denton are so much more stubborn than the ones in Waco. I feel that down in Waco there is a lot more who were prepared and ready for the gospel than there is here in Denton. There are some....we just gotta find em! David is getting baptized on saturday! He is adorable. He's 11 and so excited to get baptized, we can't wait.

So, there was suppose to be a "bahama bucks" (that AMAZING sno-cone place) here in Denton....well PYSCH! they closed it!!! i almost weat tears of sadness when i saw that. Ok, i think thats about it for food. oh no...wait. so the members of our ward like NEVER feed us! its so sad! i dont know how to cook! so ive been eating spagettios and frozen dinners and frozen popcorn chickens. Its a sad story. wanna send me some reciepts that require few ingredients and are easy to make? caauusseeeeee even though i LOVE spagettios and im sure i will NEVER get sick of them...i do wanna spice up my dinners. The ward happily feeds the elders but they dont the hermanas. we use to eat all together, the 4 of us and then Pres. changed that rule, so now people only feed the elders. Its so sad, we send the calander around in relief society and we just watch that get passed around and around without people signing up. Rude. Ok, thats all for food.

Its really cool to serve around spanish elders. Talking on the phone with native spanish speakers is hard to understand, so the elders call me every night and for about 10-20 min we just practice talking in spanish to each other so i can one, listen to spanish on the phone and two, practice speaking my spanish. Right now, im at the point where i can understand a lot more than i can speak. that is super frustrating, but they say thats how it usually works out. I havent said an english prayer in almost 7 months. (whoa! ive been out almost 7 months!) and when i come home, i'll always say my own prayers in spanish. I dont wanna lose my spanish when i come home, so im gonna read out of my spanish scriptures and stuff, it'll be cool too cause i'll have Drew there to talk to in spanish at our family stuff. i think that any time you guys call on us to give a prayer, we should do it in spanish. only drew and i will understand....but hey, a prayer is a prayer hahaha And its super cool too cause Curtis and David and Joe and Brenton and i all speak spanish! So im glad that i'll have people to talk too and keep my spanish up. SPANISH IS SO COOL!!!!!! Ive gotten to the point now where i mixed my english sentances up, cause in spanish you put some words in front of others, so it seems backwards in english like....to say "i want it" its "yo lo quiero". so in english that translated to "it i want", so now when i am speaking english to people, i'll slip up and say something like "it i want". i sound so un-learned when i say that haha but really...i have a bajillion words floating around in my head...spanish and english! oh and also, when i go to read something and i dont know how to say it (reading in english) i pronounce it with a spanish accent and i sound it out like i would a spanish word hahaha its so funny. I speak suuuppeerrrr spanglish. Spanish people love to plant in their front yards fake flowers and hermana shelton and i were tracting and someone had done it, and i said "i love it when people plant flake fowers" i thought she was going to die laughing, she was laughing so hard!!!! So theres a spanish update for you.

OH!!! i stinkin got attacked by a dog this week! This thing came bookin at me! He was totally deceiving. he was a little chihuahua but he was out to get me for sure! OH and we saw a sign this week, i wanted to take a picture but i didnt have my camera, but it was this little sign and it had a picture of a chicken crossing the road and then under it, it said "i dream of a day where chickens can cross the road without their motvives being questioned" hahaha mom, it was sooo funny!! If i ever see it again, im taking a picture for sure!

Yesterday we were teaching this family and from all the way across the room a kid chucks this hot wheel car in the air and guess where that thing just so happened to land....smack dab on the top of my head. no joke, it was so funny. so everyone starts busting up laughing and im thinking...."if only you knew how my day was going" because prior to that, i had a bee almost sting me and i forgot to eat lunch, so it was a rough sunday for me hahaha Im glad you liked the cowboy hat picture. i actually left the hat in waco during transfers :( so i dont have it but thats ok, i'll get another one.

I love you mom!!!! Know that i pray for you and our family and friends every day! and give moji a hug back :) oh and theres this quote i LOVE! its in spanish but its "mira en tu interior. eres mas de lo que te has convertido. recuerda quien eres". thats what mufasa says to simba in the forest the whole....look inside yourself....remember who you are" quote. cool huh? fun fact, "Lion King" in spanish is "El Rey leon" which is the king lion. its another one of those things that gets switched around. You should write that on a post it and stick it by your computer! its Disney and its in spanish hahah i love you!

love,
hermana powell
